Primary Purpose of Department:

The primary purpose of the Office of Adult Students and Extended Services (OASES), a program under the Enrollment Management division at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, is to support the University’s enrollment goals by recruiting, retaining, and graduating undergraduate adult and nontraditional students. OASES provides quality advising and promotes educational opportunities by the research, design, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and educational services for adult and nontraditional students. OASES offers advising, educational programs, scholarships, and transition and referral services to assist adult and nontraditional students in reaching their academic and career goals.

Primary Purpose of Position:

The purpose of the position is to serve as the 49er Finish Program reenrollment coordinator and as an academic advisor for general education to prospective, new, currently enrolled, and reentry undergraduate adult students served by the Office of Adult Students and Extended Services (OASES). The position responsibilities encompass guiding the recruitment initiatives, building campus partnerships, maintaining and analyzing student data, and evaluating graduation success of the 49er Finish Program. The professional advises students to include information on academic policy, services, and resources. The professional nurtures existing and builds new relationships with partners dedicated to serving the population. The professional develops, administers, and evaluates educational programs and services using strategic and efficient organizational skills. The professional works with academic departments’ staff and faculty to determine degree completion options and market undergraduate adult students’ graduation success.

Summary of Position Responsibilities:

The position responsibilities are to serve as a reenrollment program coordinator to lead the 49er Finish program for former UNC Charlotte students and to serve as an academic advisor for general education courses to prospective, new, currently enrolled, and reentry undergraduate adult students. The position responsibilities encompass managing the 49er Finish communication plan to guide recruitment initiatives to reach former UNC Charlotte undergraduate adult students to engage them in the readmission process. The responsibilities of the position include assisting and educating prospective and enrolled undergraduate adult students with admission, readmission, and transition processes. The responsibilities include nurturing existing and building new relationships with on-campus partners to serve the undergraduate adult student population. The position responsibilities include maintaining and analyzing student data to evaluate graduation success of the 49er Finish Program. The responsibilities include academic transcript review, academic policy advising, and advising on campus services and resources. The responsibilities include developing, administering, and evaluating undergraduate adult student success programs and services using strategic and efficient organizational skills. The professional works with academic departments’ staff and faculty to determine degree completion options. The responsibilities include collaborating with campus partners to market undergraduate adult students’ graduation success.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • A master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three to five years of admissions recruitment experience at the university level and/or three to five years of undergraduate student academic advising experience at the university level.
  • Experience working nontraditional office hours.
  • Evidence of exceptional interpersonal relationship skills and professional demeanor to establish immediate credibility and confidence.
  • Evidence of collaboration and flexibility.
  • Evidence of tact and diplomacy.
  • Evidence of being well-organized with attention to detail and ability to multi-task efficiently.
  • Evidence of outstanding verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with various computer applications including Google Workspace, Microsoft, Banner, Connect, Word Press, Slate, and University approved academic advising systems, software, and web technology.
